Many development agencies work in Africa and interning in the region is the quickest way to make your resume pop and to set you apart from your competition. Africa has specific development challenges and needs that are unique to its people and cultures. Understanding the challenges of working in the region and the needs of the people in Africa will broaden students’ views thus making them competitive when applying for jobs with organizations that work within Africa. Interns gain in depth knowledge about Africa and understand the audiences that international agencies work with.

Authentic Immersive Cultural Experience Smart Ads additionally offers interns an immersive cultural experience .We work within the local communities and offer meaningful interactions and connections. All interns have the opportunity to interact with local people and are involved in activities such as cooking local foods, sharing meals, learning the local languages, attending prayers, helping out in gardens and farms and shopping in the local markets. They also get the opportunity to use public transportation like local taxis and to ride on boda bodas.
Community Participation and Engagement Our communities also actively engage the interns and participate in activities by sharing their culture with the interns offering them a rich array of experience. Communities share their history and culture through dancing, singing, music and drama on cultural nights.
Doing Good while Having Fun-Work Life Balance Winston Churchill called Uganda The Pearl of Africa. It has beautiful weather, friendly and welcoming people, a rich and diverse culture and a diversity of wildlife. We offer a study life balance were interns take a break every two weeks to truly explore and engage with the destination. They are offered sight-seeing tours and excursions to different parts of the country. Interns also attend cultural events and also tour Kampala the capital city. They also have membership to Bravado Spa where they relax and rejuvenate. They get a jetlag massage when they arrive and free grooming services, manicures, pedicures, steam bath and sauna during their stay.

WHAT WE OFFER YOU
A Conducive Learning Environment- Students are given their own areas of responsibilities from the start. They learn by doing and we encourage them to bring their own ideas to the table and to be creative and work independently.
Strong Intern Support System- Caring instructors and staff provide multiple layers of social, emotional and spiritual support and guidance throughout the program. We provide on site orientation and counseling to help the interns settle in.
Support and Mentorship from Industry Experts- It’s our goal to ensure student academic success and throughout their internship students are supported by our expert instructors who help them achieve their educational and professional goals. We also provide different methods of performance evaluation and supervision as required by different universities and colleges. At the end of the program students are encouraged to write reflections that show learning experiences, skill developed ,lessons learnt, challenges faced and proposed solutions.
Clear Documented Internship Program- Each intern has a specific role with detailed job descriptions showing goals and objectives. The jobs have the knowledge, skills and techniques to be imparted to the intern. Internships are structured with exact schedules. We also offer performance evaluation methods and intern supervision
Work-Life Balance – Our day to day schedule offers a healthy work life balance with 40 work hours a week. We have weekend programs and every two weeks the interns leave the community to visit other parts of the country. Our programs also integrate cultural immersion activities where students directly interact with the locals and engage in social and cultural activities in the community.

The program cost is USD $2,550 for the first week and USD$150 for each additional week thereafter as listed and illustrated below:

The Program Fee includes:

Students are encouraged to get iNext International Travel Protection- https://www.inext.com ) protecting against the cost of illnesses and injuries suffered abroad. Plans cover Emergency Evacuation and Medical Transportation; 24-hour Medical, Legal, and Travel Assistance Services; Loss of Baggage and Personal Effects; and even Trip Delays. Plan upgrades include Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, and Security Evacuation.
ELIGIBILITY
The program is open to current students, recent college graduates, graduate student or those that have completed graduate programs.
